Abstract

Geopolitically the Indo-Pacific region has been characterized by multi-polarity and power rivalry between several countries. Due to its economic and security vitality, some states including China, the U.S., are behaving in a tricky and suspicious way. Both the countries have their own agenda and dissimilar interests in the Indo-Pacific region. The Americas fear of world dominated by China seems to be true as China is rising and expanding its influence through multiple means. The only country which can limit China from becoming an overwhelming power is India and not the U.S.A. due to several factors including its geographical location, military, economy and historical clashes and America is aware of this reality. From Look East Policy to its linkage with Americas Pivot of Asia policy, India is adopting a cautious approach so that its interests, vis-vis China and the U.S.A. will be satisfied. India is sentient about growing Chinas threat in the Indo-Pacific region and also aware about the consequences of its being fallen into the Americas alliance. But India has been avoidingit right from the times when cold war began in 1940s. The present paper aims to analyze Indias perception about China and the U.S.Asgrowing activities in the Indo-Pacific region and how India will handle the situation by following its own path without compromising its stature in the present international system.
