The Social Issues in Arundhati Roy’s The God of Small Things

Abstract

      Arundhati Roy is one of the shining Star in the firament of Indian Fiction in English. She was born on 24 November 1961 is an Indian Writer and best known for her novel The God of Small Things (1997) which won the Man Booker Prize for fiction in 19997.She is a political activist involved in Human Rights and environmental causes. She was born in Shillong, Meghalaya in India and married to Mary Roy, a Malayali Syrian Christian. In 1984, She met filmmaker Pradip Krishnen, where he offered a role in the film and made the Award-Winning movie. Massey Sahib later they married, and worked together on a television series, on the Indian Independence Movement and Annie Electric Moon. She also involved in the aerobic classes. Later Roy and Krishnen separated. As she became financially success by her novel God of Small Things published in 1997.Arundhathi Roy worked for Television and Movies. She wrote many Screenplays these include In Which Annie Gives it those Ones (1992). Both were directed by her husband, later during the marriage she won The Best Screenplays in 1988 for In Which Annie gives it ones.
