Abstract

Blue Green Algae are Prokaryotic, Oxygenic photosynthetic, Autotrophic and some of them are able to fix atmospheric nitrogen. Cyanobacteria used in aquaculture, wastewater treatment, food, fertilizers andplays an important role in maintaining soil fertility, consequently increasing cereals growth and yield as a natural bio fertilizer. In the present study, reverse osmosis rejected water sample were collected from different area at Kumbakonam. As per the analyzationfive cyanobacteria were isolated. Isolated cyanobacteria were grownwell on BG11 medium. The incubation period given to 15-20days for the progress of the cyanobacteria by using light energy. In microscopical examinationcyanobacterial strain likeoscillatoriasps, Nostocsps, Anabaena sps, Spirulina spand Spirogyra sp were identified. The isolatedcyanobacteria were used for further study of bioremediation of waste water.
