English Language Learning Attitude in Relation to Self Confidence of College Students

Abstract

The present investigation has been undertaken in order to study the English language learning attitude in relation to Self confidence of college students. English Language Learning Attitude Scale (ELLAS) and Self Confidence Scale (SCS) was constructed and validated by the Investigator (2018) which have been administered to a random sample of 780 arts and science college students studying in Puducherry Region in India. The statistical techniques adopted to analyse the collected data were descriptive, differential and correlation analysis. Findings revealed that the English language learning attitude and Self confidence of college students are average. It is found that college students significantly differ in English language learning attitude in respect of Gender and Locality of the students and they do not differ significantly in English language learning attitude in respect of Subject specialization. It is found that college students significantly differ in self confidence in respect of Gender and Subject specialization and they do not differ significantly in self confidence in respect of Locality of the Students. It is found that there is a positive and significant relationship between English language learning attitude and Self confidence of college students.
