Feministic Perspective in Alice Walker’s “the Color Purple”

Abstract

The color purple, novel by Alice walker, published in 1982. It won a Pulitzer Prize in 1983. Afro American writing is essentially a human and social document which deals with experience of American of African ancestry. A feminist work about an abused and uneducated African American Womans struggle for empowerment, the main aim of African American novelist is the preservation of Black culture and Walker is successful in doing so. Walker as a Black Feminist Writer has always been concerned with the plight of black women and through her works she is trying present their point of view. Through The color purple, she shows Black Women can overcome all suppressions and come up as liberated beings. Barbara Omlade points out: black feminism is referred to womanise because both are concerned with struggle against sexism and racism by black women. Feminism is explored in the life of celie and the other female characters in the novel The Color purple by Alice Walker.In the present century also the male domination greatly in the society and many women harassment activities were done which should be limited to some extend by the enforcement of certain loss.
