Migration and Transformation in Bhrati Mukherjee?s “Miss New India”

Abstract

This paper mainly focuseson migration and psychological transformation of Anjali Bose, the protagonist of the novel Miss New India. Bharati Mukherjee, a celebrated writer of Indian diaspora in English Literature, writes Miss New India She reveals her experience as an expatriate through the character Anjali Bose. In her novel, she depicts the struggle and survival of the protagonist for adapting and assimilating with alien culture and how she overcomes all the problems that she faced and acquired transformation of herself. Moreover Anjali is an immigrant in her own country ratherthan in a foreign land.Sheportrays the traumatic experiences of the Anjali, the immigrantdue to cultural conflicts.
