ANFIS Type Speed Controller of Induction Motor for Variable Speed Applications

Abstract

Induction motor has been the workhorse in various industries, like Steel roller, paper mills, chemical industries, escalators, pumps etc.due to its low cost, maintenance and rugged construction features. This paper represents a smart speed control system for three phase induction motor using Neuro-fuzzy Inference system. Neuro-fuzzy inference systemis the important factor in improving the performance of the three phase induction motor. Many industrial applications needs speed to be varied at various intervals based on the load. Thus the proposed ANFIS speed controller adapts to sudden variation in speed in much low response and settling time. Induction motor is tested in closed loop condition with constant v\f Control. The simulation results for the fuzzy logic controller and Neuro-fuzzy controller are compared. The results show the superiority of the Neuro-fuzzy controller in improving the performance of the three phase induction motor. The simulation design is tested using various toolboxes in MATLAB.
