Innovative Pedagogical Approach for Higher Education in Commerce

Abstract

The quality of education provided by Higher Educational Institution is a key ingredient in for the economic progress of any nation. Scientific research has shown that innovative teaching methods and approaches can significantly enhance the student learning process in higher education. Innovative initiatives aim at enhancing student learning and employability, technology, social change and the increasing cost have presented multiple changes in higher education. It has added emphasis to provide students with skills, understanding and personal attributes that make them more likely to gain employment and be successful in their chosen occupations. The embedding employability in Higher Education Framework highlights, the process, principles and premises underpinning employability and the elements which contribute to and support it. Drawing on collaboration with stakeholders is essential to inform design, content and delivery into programmes of study that support and enhance employability. The more traditional and rigid models are now being replaced by adaptive and personalized pedagogies. The essence of new approach to education pedagogy is to ensure that students are built and prepared for relevant marketplace through entrepreneurship and skill acquisition through pedagogy. Innovative pedagogy shows critical significance since greater segment of Higher Education Institutions is affiliated to some or the other university with a bondation of implementing the curriculum approved by the affiliating university. Moreover, with a sharp hike in investment cost, return on investment is no longer an option like any other subject stream, Commerce is no exception. Thus, innovative pedagogy becomes the need the hour to equip graduates with subject knowledge, domain knowledge and skill sets. This paper focuses on a pragmatic innovative Pedagogical approach in implementing Curriculum of Commerce courses at Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Higher levels of tertiary learning. It also emphasis on pedagogical approach promoting entrepreneurship in regional, national global contexts.
