Abstract

The aim of the research is to understand how the concept of Euthanasia and Living Will are understood across different age groups (ranging from 18-35,36-50 and 51-65 years) for the purpose of data collection. Existing literature on the topics related to Euthanasia and Living Will were reviewed and lack of knowledge about the Indian perspectives on Euthanasia and Living Will was identified. Interviews were conducted on 15 individuals and thematic analysis was done for the purpose of analysis and seven major themes were identified.  Results suggested that young adults (18-35)readily agreed for practicing Euthanasia and writing a Living Will, while the middle age group (36-50) readily agreed yet found it fearful, the older adults (51-65) agreed to Euthanasia and Living Will but some of them emphasized more on willpower of a person and gave more importance to dealing with difficulties. The phenomenon of Euthanasia and Living Will is relatively less explored in India. The research provides new insights into how individuals of different age groups view Euthanasia and Living Will and its legalization in India.
