Abstract

Fourth World Literature invariably serves as the voice of its people especially those whose voice is stifled by the patriarchal power structures. The Patriarchal hegemony marginalized and silenced the blooming sound of women from all walks of life. Gender is not an issue related to a particular sex , but it is a social issue of grave concern. Women struggles to assert their self, identity and equality in a society where woman is always considered inferior to man. In this male dominated world, Woman is assigned various roles according to his wishes; where equality is never assured . As a result, the New Woman has emerged to fight against bias, to create a space for herself, to raise her voice against atrocity and domestic violence, to resist all patriarchal attempts to annihilate the selfhood of woman. In other words, Tehmina Durrani emerges as New Woman to be admired. Though born into one of Pakistans most influential families & married to Mustafa Khan, one of Pakistans most eminent political figures her life turned into a nightmare. When she decided to rebel, the price she paid was extremely high as a muslim woman .This paper attempts to highlight Tehminas effort to make herself free from the shackles of male dominance & teaches every girl to fight oppression.
