Abstract

John Ruskin (1819-1900) who has written widely on architecture has recognized the value of relating architecture with literature. Both architecture and literature are arts that are structurally constructed: the former being spatial while the latter is fictional.  The intangible thoughts and emotions in literature are given tangible expression by the materiality and spatial concreteness of architecture.
