Aspects of Cultural Identities in Amitav Ghosh’s Novels

Abstract

Postcolonial theory discussion about experience of various kinds: migration, slavery, resistance, suppression, representation, difference, race, gender, place and response to influential master discourse of imperial Europe such history, philosophy and linguistics and fundamental experiences of speaking and writing by which all these comes into being. None of these is essentially postcolonial, but together they form the complex fabric of the field. Like the description of any other field, the term has come to mean different things to different people. Postcolonial describes an astonishing variety of cultural, economic and political practices also meant that there is a danger of its losing its effective meaning altogether.
