A chronological studyof origin and evolution of Street Theatre in India

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to systematically arrange the fragmented literature available in a structured format to develop a conceptual resource pool of origin of street theatre in India. The researcher aims to study the evolution and development of street theatre in the Indian scenario. The paper deconstructs the available existing studies on street theatre in-depth since the inception of the Indian Peoples TheatreAssociation(IPTA),Janya Natya Manch(JANAM)& other street theatre groups through a step by step analysis of the history of street theatre. The paper evaluates the emergence of street theatre and its paradigm change in a critical way.The originality of the study lies in analyzing the existing literature on street theatre and making it relevant for future researchers and to examine chronological developments of street theatre in following stages;
