Abstract

Textiles have been given importance in human history from olden days to present days. Turning back to our ancestors life style is current trend among youngsters now. Next to food more importance is given to clothing. Eco-friendly textiles change our lifestyles. A study is made on natural mordant and natural pigments which are more comfortable than metal salts and synthetic dyes. Mostly metal salts are used as mordant to create a bond between the fabric and the pigment (1). Metal salts should be used in correct proportions to avoid fabric damage. In this study herbal plant AleoBarbadenis along with Curcuma Longa pigment. Pigmentation process is carried out in three stages (i.e)Pre Mordanting, Simultaneous Mordanting, Post Mordanting. Shade variations are visually analyzed between cotton woven and cotton knitted fabrics. Finally dyed samples are evaluated using grey scale.
