TOTAL QUALITY MANAGEMENT IN PHARMACEUTICAL INDUSTRY: WITH RESPECT TO GREEN INNOVATION

Abstract

The issue of sustainability in pharmaceutical industry figures prominently contemporary discussions of natural resources, environmental management, economical development and sustainability through Green manufacturing practices in pharmaceutical industry is a key challenge and opportunities for pharmaceutical companies. Total Quality Management is a paradigm and an organisational culture designed to improve quality performance at every level of the organisation. Total Quality Management as a management approach that tries to achieve and sustain long term organizational success by encouraging employee feedback and participation, satisfying customers needs and expectations, respecting societal value, beliefs and obeying governmental statutes and regulations. Pharmaceutical companies that practice principles of TQM deliver high levels of service and high quality drugs through sophisticated manufacturing practices without environmental hazards. Green innovation practices are the part of TQM and commitment to the wellbeing of the planet is engrained in pharmaceutical code of conduct. Green manufacturing practices are essential ingredient of TQM philosophy. Green innovation practices such as climate strategy, managing carbon emissions, energy efficient approach, Water management, Waste management are essential for sustainable development, organisational performance and ecological balance. Decarbonising the pharmaceutical operation with renewable energy and development of that leads to continuous environmental improvement in pharmaceutical industry and the environmental stability.
