A STUDY OF MIGRANT WORKERS IN KERALA; WITH SPECIAL REFERNCE TO KOCHI DISTRICT

Abstract

State of Kerala is one of the major destination states for migrants searching for employment opportunities. Both internal and international migration has been a major factor contributing towards demographic transition in Kerala. The unorganised sector in Kerala lack local labourers. This gap is filled in by the migrant population. Also, the increased rates of immigrants have left a huge gap in labour market in Kerala. This void is been filled by migrant populations. The present study investigates 150 the migrants workers in Kerala in Kochi district.
