Abstract

In the recent years, Remote sensing and GIS techniques are being effectively utilized for landslide disaster mapping and mitigation. The ultimate objective of the present work is to generate a landslide hazard zonation map for Bheemili Road, Visakhapatnam through an integrated terrain analysis. The different terrain parameters include geology, geomorphology, lineament, drainage, slope and land use / land cover, that were interpreted using Survey of India (SOI) topographic map, IRS 1D LISS III, 2004 satellite data, and data collected from field investigations. The study provides a framework for a regional landslide hazard assessment for the region.
