Facing Challenges and Opportunities in the Global Business through Mergers and Acquisitions in India

Abstract

Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) have become an important tool for survival and growth in today's growing competitive market. More and more companies have been driven to acquisition as a growth strategy to secure and enhance complementary skills and resources, improve their technology portfolios, regional and country presence, customer relationships, distribution arrangements and operational competence. To remain ahead of the global competitors, companies need to have a global vision, be upbeat, able to take calculated risk and set off and manage acquisition and consolidation process smoothly.  The year, 2006 will be remembered in Indias corporate history as a year when Indian companies covered a lot of new ground. However in 2018, India crossed all boundaries and became the worlds eight largest market in the first quarter itself an improvement over the 11th rank in calendar year 2018. This paper discusses Indian trends in Mergers and Acquisitions. And throws light on the case of Barclays Bank PLC entry into India and its global strategies for its existence and growth in India and prospects for itself and other players in the banking industry.
