Effect of Heat Sterilization on the Production of Oyster Mushroom (Pleurotus Spp.)
Abstract
The aim of this paper to study the effect of sterilization on in vitro culture and cultivation of Pleurotusostreatus (oyster mushroom),as the increasing demand of oyster mushroom for various purposes, there is a great need to develop fast and easy cultivation technique to grow sterilized healthy oyster mushroom. P. Ostreatus has took significantly much time to colonisethe substrate (19.9 days) disinfected by chemical disinfection compared with others. Cheaper and more easily applicable scalping in hot water 80C and chemical disinfection may be use for the disinfection of growing substrates instead of sterilization with autoclave in rural areas.
