Abstract

The aim is to monitor the survival and safety status of the individual, who manually cleans the oil tanker and confined spaces, through a WiFi based wearable beacon in the wrist. The wearable device keeps the pulse rate of the individual in check and also has the feature of detecting the amount of toxic gases present inside through a gas sensor thereby avoiding death. All the features which include pulse rate and measurement of toxic gases are detected by the arduino coded wearable device. In addition to these features the wearable device is also provided with an LED and an alarm switch. These serve as an effective warning indication when the crew senses the toxicity of gases through the website and the LED in the wearable device is made to glow as a warning as well as a plea for rescue can be made by the cleaning personnel by pressing the alarm switch provided in the device. These parameters are updated in the website for the crew to be aware of the health status of the cleaning personnel, the level of toxicity or flammability in the tank as well as to check if help is needed so that the cleaning operation of the tank can be accordingly planned whilst the cleaning individuals safety is ensured.
