Abstract

Augmented reality (AR) is a technology which incorporates together virtual information such as texts, videos, graphics in real environment. Augmented reality lets us experience digital or virtual things in a real world environment. This paper presents the idea and implementation of augmented reality system for smart shopping using gaze tracking or voice tracking technology. It is based on web application and can be incorporated into mobile systems. The main purpose of this smart shopping system is to avoid the pain of trying out the products manually and to avoid confusions in making decisions on buying the products. Since this system maybe employed with technologies like gaze tracking and voice tracking, the customer can easily interact with the system using his voice or gaze. The software will track the gaze or voice input of the customer and will perform actions according to that. The customer will be able to try out the products virtually and can buy the desired one which really suits his preference without any confusions and manual efforts. This can be used in shops like optics and jewellery shops where customer can try out the products virtually and select the product with satisfaction. This system will be an asset to the shopping trends as it reduces the manual efforts on trying out the products thus decreasing the shopping time. If employed in real life, it can be of great use to the customers.
