Abstract

Exhaled breath of a person contains many gases which pave way for the identification of beginning stage of certain diseases. Early detection and treatment of any disease could extend the lifetime of the individual. Some of the detection methods of certain diseases are nowadays, costly and invasive. Analyzing a breath of a person (Breath Sampling) is a simple and a non-invasive method for detecting some diseases. The air we exhale contains both volatile and non-volatile compounds. Volatile compounds are different in suffering patients than the normal ones. The proposed system contains, a breath sample collection system, a sensor array for sensing the chemical signature of the exhaled breath and a data collection system which altogether comprises the SMART DETECTION SYSTEM. Exhaled air from the individual is made to interact with the sensor array, which are placed in a collection system and the output from sensors are processed and analyzed by a microcontroller[1].
