Effectiveness of Eye Care Camps Organized in Rural Areas in Gujarat & Rajasthan

Abstract

Organizing outreach programmes in rural areas is considered as an initiative by NGOs or other social organization to reach the rural community in an appropriate manner. In this paper, researcher analyzethe factors that impact the effectiveness of eye care camps organized in rural areas in Gujarat& Rajasthan.  Researcher has considered 500 participants from rural areas of Gujarat and Rajasthan from the list of patients identified through eye health camp. The participants were selected by random sampling method. The research was descriptive in nature and to analyze the facts and figures, appropriate statistical tools like descriptive analysis, factor analysis and ANOVA test is used for hypothesis testing were applied. To seek the opinion of the respondents, a self-structured questionnaire was framed and used for final data collection.  Researcher visited Sabarkantha, Aravlli, Gandhinagar, Kheda and Ahmedabad district of Gujarat and MandoreTaluka in the state of Rajasthan. Moreover, current research confirms some general trends observed in the literature and provides suggestions for further research. Factors such as cost, lack of awareness, cultural beliefs and personal factors were identified as major challenges for not attending Eye Check-up camps.
