Status of Indian Women – Gender Issues and Challenges

Abstract

This article analyses the social, educational, health, economical and political status of women in India. Its realistic view is the patriarchal aspects of the society. Men and Women are discriminated based on their abilities. According o this gender discrimination, the status and responsibilities of men and women are distributed. With the help of government policies and academic excellence, women are trying to uplift their standards of living. But on one hand, there are gender concepts which are causing hindrances in growth and development of women; and on the other hand, increased crime rate against women is also a major challenge in their development.
