Transforming Gender Relations and Declining Fertility: Scrutinized Study of Modern Indian Family System

Abstract

An important debate is going on among many demographic experts and sociologists regarding the declining rate of fertility in modern Indian family system. The present family system of India has attained tremendous change within decades of modernization. There is a question arising within the intellectual mindset of many sociologists regarding whether the declining ratio of fertility in modern India is due to change in economic profile of the people or due to stopping and gaping. The Change in the economic profile and status of the people do have influence on the fertility rate of Indian family system but this cannot be declared as the alone parameter to understand this complex but demanding issue. There are number of socio-economic as well as behavioral matters that are needed to be discussed. In this present research study efforts are made to uncover and discover all these parameters that are transforming the fertility rate within the modern Indian family system.
