Constitutional Provisions on Electoral Process

Abstract

The Constitution of India provides for free and fair elections in India. In order to fulfill this aim, certain provisions under Article 324-329 in Part XV are enshrined in the Constitution. In this paper, the various provisions enshrined in the constitution are discussed. The first part of the paper talks about then composition of the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha. In second part the composition of Election Commission of India and services of Election Commissioner and nature of Election Commission is discussed. Ultimately in the last part the powers and function of Election Commission are discussed and some suggestion and conclusions are provided at the end.
