Abstract

Emerging technology and advanced research have resulted in the development of new understanding of human existence and its allied aspects. Consequently, various new dimensions are getting added to the existing pool of our knowledge which were hitherto unexplained. Literature as a discipline cannot be taught in isolation and the same is true for its learning. It has to be ever encompassing. Everything from the discipline of medicine to that of philosophy and from the discipline of divinity to that of psychology is an extension of literature. Therefore. thrust should be upon a multi-disciplinary approach in teaching-learning literature. So whatever new trends are emerging in any field of study, they must be reflected while delineating any literary texts. This paper seeks to establish multidisciplinary nature of the literary texts with particular emphasis upon the relation of humanities and medicine. It seeks to examine the transferability of conversations in literary studies to a more sensitive, holistic, ethically informed, medical education.
