Abstract

Significance of logistics has become strategic today. Several wholesalers face the fact that
release accuracy and ability is not enough to satisfy customer needs. Logistics play a key role in
both micro and macro perspective. From a micro perspective, logistics service could fulfill the
customers prospect through excellent logistics service provision and from a macro perspective.
It drives the economic progress of a nation logistics is a backbone for the global supply chains
logistics management actions typically include the activities like, fleet management, inbound
and outbound transportation management warehousing, materials handling, order fulfillment,
logistics network design, inventory management, supply demand planning, management of
third party logistics service providers.
Logistics are now recognized as strategic industry that positively contributes to Gross
Domestic Product (GDP) and performance of logistics is leading significant whereas most of the
logistics performance has focused on investigating operational and trade facilitation contexts.
The purpose of this paper is to examine the issues and challenges of logistics management
in IOCL and it aims to examine the relationships of this context empirically in the different
elements like infrastructure, haulage network, technology, ecommerce orders, warehouse
facilities, customer expectations, manpower availability and tax structure in IOCL.
