Gender Differences On Alienation Among Youth

Abstract

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the alienation with reference to gender among
youth of Kashmir. Methods: The study was carried out on a sample of 320 youth (male = 160, female =
160) belonging to Kashmir (J&K). The alienation scale with 20 items, developed by Hardeo Ojha (2010),
was used to measure alienation. Data on gender was measured by using demographic data sheet.
Results: Data were analysed by descriptive statistics and Independent samples t-test using SPSS. The
results showed a significant mean difference on alienation among male and female youth. Conclusion:
The findings of the present study suggest that gender has a significant impact in determining the
alienation among youth of Kashmir.
