Suraksha : An Android App For The Safety Of Women

Abstract

The usage of smart phones for entertainment has escalated to a whole new level nowadays, but what we have often overlooked is that our phone can be proven as a reliable source for self protection. We are now obliged to create an application to utilize the smart phone in an efficient way. This paper presents Surakhsa, an Android Application for the safety of women. A single click on the button inside this app turns the GPS of phone on and sends the current coordinates along with the alert message to the registered contacts. This unique feature of this application is to send the message without any inconvenience to open the app. The automation of sending the message is through various sensors built in mobile phone, like continuous shaking and speech recognition to send the message directly without even launching the application.
