Complexities of Teaching Education in Indian Educational Scenario

Abstract

Teachers all over the world are working in complex and diverse settings with various professional learning needs. Though these needs are very specific; they need opportunities for professional learning. The complexities of teaching and learning creates quality issues and challenges in Teacher Education. Teacher Education enables and empowers the teacher to cater the needs of profession and face the challenges therein. These days the field of Teacher Education has broadened in various new horizons. Changes and development in education has been affecting Teacher Education that necessitates reforms and reviews. Teacher Education System in India is rapidly changing with explosion of population growth, knowledge and innovative ideas and with advancement of science and technology. The present paper aims to highlight various complexities of teacher education in India through in-depth exploration of the published articles, researches and government reports. Some innovative practices are also discussed that could help in improving the conditions of various teacher training institutes. Some suggestions are also recommended for the teacher educators; policy makers and for the government.
