Impact of Demonetisation on Retail Sector

Abstract

Demonetisation is the issue that has made a worst impact on retailing. It is mainly because of the sudden action of Modi government without adopting any remedial action to face such a situation. It had mainly affected malls and luxury goods. They had met a high footfall in their sales and profit level. But the adoption of cashless economy has somewhat helps to cure this problem since it was not fully successful, because people are not aware about cashless economy mainly illiterate people and people living in rural areas. Therefore educating people about cashless economy may be a great measure to solve such a problem.
