Analytical study of various dimensions of Emotional Intelligence between Rural and Urban players

Abstract

The capability to express and control our emotions is essential for human, but so is our ability to understand, interpret, and respond to the emotions of others. Imagine a world in which you could not understand when a friend was feeling sad or when a co-worker was angry. Psychologists refer to this ability as emotional intelligence, and some experts even suggest that it can be more important than IQ. Emotional Intelligence is being intelligent about our emotions. If we are able to manage our own emotions, and understand the people around us, then the person  likely have high emotional intelligence. There is attraction to the idea that EI explains why some people do well in life while having average intelligence while others struggle even with possessing a high IQ (Goldenberg, Matheson, Mantler, 2006). The key to emotional intelligence in sports is the ability to control emotions and create peak performance on demand. If only we could teach our athletes to do this consistently .EI is basic requirement in sports. To see player from rural area and urban area are having equal EI or not? To find out Researcher Has under taken a study entitled Analytical study of Emotional Intelligent between Rural and Urban players. The Main purpose of the study was to find out various Emotional intelligent factors between rural and urban team game players. For this study 40 male national team game players were selected with available sampling method, out of these 20 from rural and 20 from urban area. For the data collection emotional intelligent questionnaire (leadership Dimensions) was used, this is available in net. Five dimensions were used Self awareness, managing emotions, Motivating oneself, Empathy and Social skill. Statistical analysis was done with help of t test, level of significant for this study was kept 0.05 at38 df.Finding of study shows that  first three dimensions Self awareness, managing emotions, Motivating oneself urban players are  showing  better than the rural area player, but  in the other two dimensions Empathy and Social skill rural players are dominant than the urban. When t test calculated only one dimension i.e. Self awareness shows significant difference others are not significant at 0.05 level. The cause may be urban players are having more confidence, self-esteem.
