The Role and Advancements of IOT Technology in Smart Farming for Agribusiness

Abstract

IOT is a promising innovation that gives productive and reliable solutions towards the modernization in various domains. The greater part of the individuals throughout the world rely upon agribusiness. On account of this reason, smart IT technologies are expected to migrate with conventional agribusiness strategies. The solutions based on IOT are helped to automatically screen and maintain the rural agricultural farms with the insignificant human association. Utilizing current modern innovations can control the cost, maintenance, and screening performance. Satellite imagery plays a key role in the current agribusiness, and sensor monitoring is utilized incredibly to gauge agribusiness related data like temperature, humidity, the PH levels in the soil, levels of nutrition and water, etc. Hence, the farmers utilizing this technology can monitor their crops through mobiles and personal computers. This article presents numerous aspects of innovation engaged with the area of IOT in agribusiness along with significant parts of IoT based farming. Further, we have presented the role of IOT in smart farming along with the currently utilized android application of it.  Though it is very useful for society it poses many challenges and few of them are presented. Also, we have presented the three-layer architecture of IoT along with its hardware and cloud platforms for the machine to machine communications. Then, we described the related works in smart IOT based farming strategies proposed by numerous authors. In the end, challenges of smart farming like hardware, network, platform, and organization issues are presented.
