Abstract

In this paper the Field oriented control (FOC) of Induction motor drive is presented. The solar energy is utilized to drive the load. The neutral point clamped-multi level inverter (NPC-MLI) inverter is widely used in high power application. The torque developed by the IM drive depend upon the quality of the supply. The NPC-MLI has reduced harmonics as compared to the conventional two level inverter (2LI) along with less voltage stress across the power switch. The inverter gate pattern is generated using space vector modulation (SVM) technique. The torque and speed response may improve by the NPC-MLI. The FOC has good torque response in dynamic as well steady-state condition. The PI controller is used in the FOC. The response of the NPC-MLI and 2LI is compared using MATLAB/Simulink.
