Risk taking decision is an important aspect of human life. Everyone takes risk in ones life which is determined by many factors i.e. personality factors, family environment as well as pattern of parents treatment with their children.
Against this backdrop, present paper was planned to investigate the impact of child abuse on risk taking decision. This study followed a 2x2x2 factorial design i.e. (abused- non abused) x (boys x girls) x (pre-post condition). A total of 60 students (age ranged 13-16 years) participated in this study. Choice dilemma questionnaire developed by Wallach and Kogan (1964)and child abuse checklist (Pandey S., 2000) was used to asses different abusive patterns and risk taking decisions of students.
Further findings of this study revealed that child abuse strongly influenced the level of risk taking decision of students as abusive students taken low level of risky decision as compared to non abusive students. It is also apparent from the result that boys and girls scores vary on the different patterns of abuse and neglect, as boys were found more physically, economically abused than the girls but girls were found more sexually abused as compared to boys.
