ECOFEMINISM AND ENVIRONMENTAL ASPECTS IN THE POETRY OF LINDA HOGAN

Abstract

Eco-criticism having a number of nomenclatures like green studies, cultural studies Eco-critical studies etc is an emerging school of literary criticism. The world of literature while dealing with beauty and power of nature always painted the concern for Eco-logy and the threat that the continuous misuse of our environment poses on humanity has only recently caught the attention of the writers.  It is this sense of concern and its reflection in literature that has given rise to a new branch of literary theory, namely Eco-criticism.  Eco-criticism is a school of thought and that it takes an earth-centric as well as a bio-centric approach to the study of literature, in the same way that feminist criticism brings an awareness of gender and Marxist criticism highlights production and Economic class. That is why Eco-criticism and feminism are closely interconnected.
