Abstract

Due to the rapidly expanding knowledge and at the same time, the availability to students as well as teachers, teaching is the most challenging profession in this era. In modern age, there is lot of pressure on educational systems to adopt innovative methodologies and to integrate new Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) in the teaching and learning process, to prepare students with the knowledge and skills they need in modern age. Today a verity of NICTs can facilitate not only delivery of instruction but also learning process itself. Moreover, NICTs can promote international collaboration and networking in education and professional development. If we have to ensure that students should confident individuals capable of using new technology creatively and productively then teachers should have the competence to integrate the emerging technologies and the digital content with all their operations. A teacher being a pivot in the process of teaching learning, knowledge of ICT and skills to use ICT in teaching learning has gained immense importance for todays teacher. A teacher is expected to know successful integration of ICT into his/her subject area to make learning meaningful. ICT tools can be used to find, explore, analyze, exchange and present information responsibly and without discrimination. ICT is applicable in various fields for the development along with education. There are some hurdles also in the way of ICT. This paper presents a study of ICT literacy skills. ICT have an important role in the socioeconomic development and international development. In this paper the economical and social impact of ITC is described. Purpose, applications, challenges, International and National scenario of ICTS are also discussed in this paper.
