  • Dr. SHAMBHU LAL SALVI

Abstract

Indias ties with the West Asian region are as old as their civilisations and both regions are well connected to each other with their past heritage links as well as testimony to the close political, economic and cultural relationships. Indias presence in the West Asia is distinctly shaped by its massive expat community there. Indian Diaspora in the region provides an unassuming asset to New Delhi with a unique soft power advantage that improves Indias global image as it competes with more powerful states in the region. It has always been important to the countrys economy and its policy objective of alleviating poverty and generates employment through foreign exchange sent back by Indian expat community of West Asia. This research paper tries to evaluate the various aspects and constraints of Indian Diaspora in West Asian region and its role in Indian economy.  This research paper is based on the secondary sources.
