A Study on Implementation of Information and Communication Technology in Education with Special Reference to Southern Rajasthan

Abstract

Information communication technologies (ICT) are playing catalytic role in all the phases of life significantly. ICT acts as a facilitator for change in all the work places, organizations, education, and entertainment. 21st century is the digital era here ICT impacts the information management; teaching approaches, working conditions, learning methodologies, scientific research, etc. ICT is also influencing education industry up to a large extent by providing opportunities to teachers, students and school management to teach, learn and implement the much desired skills. It is believed that information and communication technology brings several benefits to education system. Thus the present study is attempted to recognize the usage and access of implementation of ICT in schools of southern Rajasthan.  The present review provides a survey of implementation of ICT in public and private sector schools fromstudents, teachers, school administration, Librarystaffperspective to make a comparison between the two. Sample population is selected on convenience sampling method from different public and private schools of Udaipur and Dungarpur districts of Southern Rajasthan. Study involves data related to access and usage of ICT by respondents in selected schools .The survey research studies the role of ICT in education and successful implementation of ICT in school education. Data is collected using self-structured questionnaire and analysis is done using frequency tables and graphs. Result from analysis shows that ICT is sufficiently utilized and implemented in the schools in the study area however it is implemented more optimally in private schools.
