Abstract

The American Dream is one of the most commonly discussed topics in the American literature. The writers often have discussed it in various stories or through many varied characters. Writers like Fitzgerald and Thompson are the examples who have discussed the theme in their works and ridiculed the American Dream and depicted the dark side of it and how following this dream leads to the downfall of people. Chasing dreams come with a cost of loneliness and psychological depression, themes like these are depicted by and talked of to aware the masses that not all dreams are worth chasing.
