The Ethnobotanical Study of Medicinal Plants used by Mathura Labhan Community in the region on Kinwat

Abstract

The proposed paper aims at the scientific study of the ethnomedicinal survey, carried out during the month of August to November in 2019. The focal point of this survey was to do the ethnobotanical study of  medicinal plants used by Mathura Labhana community in the region of Kinwat. It further observes the nomadic life style of this particular community, their habitation in the proximity of forest and the utiliazation of herbal plants in their everyday life to do diagnosis of different kinds of ailments. The survey also assists to collect the significant information regarding the use and importance of herbal plants in the forest ranges of Kinwat in Nanded district of Maharashtra. The present survey consists of the minute study of 16 medicinal plants species used for the treatment of various diseases by Mathura Labhan community. The paper shows the flourished tribal life of nomadic people in the forest area, their firm belief in the use of medicinal plants and their inordinate interest in the traditional practices. The community seems this treasure as the natural endowment for them. The paper highlights how these people used to depend on the forestland its mercy by residing near the wood. The significance of this study may help for the development of novel medicine for the betterment of mankind. Further, it helps to collect and preserve such a traditional knowledge which has been hand covering from generation to generation. Hence, the sole motive of this study is to keep alive the cultural heritage of community in the upcoming centuries.
