Holistic approach in migraine assessment and treatment: A case study

Abstract

A 54-yer-old female with a history of chronic headache for last 15 years, hypertension and
hypothyroidism come to the clinic with chief complaint of severe headache on one side associated with
visual disturbances, nausea, sensitivity to bright light and loud noise/sound, and pain behind the eyes. The
clinical assessment revealed the presence of spinal misalignment in thoracic (T5-T7 as well as cervical
(C1-C3) region, incorrect gait mechanics with excessive wear and tear of footwear of left side and
presence of trigger points in cervico-occipital region having exactly the same pain pattern as that of
during migraine attack. Patient was diagnosed as a case of migraine with aura upon the fulfillment of
diagnostic criteria based on ICHD-3.
