Abstract

In this paper pair of rectangular matrices used as secret key in hill cipher.Variation in the traditional
process of hill cipher includes two encryption first is the transposition of plaintext column matrix and
secondis rectangular tall matrix encryption key which will stretch the actual size of considered plaintext
column matrix .Private key pair in a given algorithm is generated using tall rectangular
matrix[ ] having left inverse with .Since left inverse of are not unique so
higher the order of rectangular matrix difficult would be cracking the ciphertext by snooper which will
enhance the security of ciphertext.Algorithms for encryption and decryption has been developed using
modular arithmetic with modulo p, where selection of p is to be prime greater than 26.
