Glucosinolates: Multifaceted Plant Metabolites

Abstract

Glucosinolates are bioactive compounds which have been explored for their high potential of
biological activities. These compounds have protective roles in plants against fungal pathogens,
bacteria, insect pests and herbivores. The studies have shown that glucosinolates themselves have
lower activity, however, their hydrolysis products are highly effective against various biotic stresses.
Hence, their more studies need to be carried so as to explore the mechanisms behind these
bioactivities and their practical application.
