Abstract

In this paper, we have studied the effect of thickness of metallic interlayer in a typical perovskite
tandem solar cell (PTSC) by a simulation approach. Freely available software named gpvdm was used
to carry out this study. It utilizes a standard light source (AM 1.5G) for developing spectral profiles of
absorbed and successfully converted photons in individual configuration of PTSC. At the same time,
thickness of metallic interlayercanbe varied to check the feasibility of effective photon absorption for
the optimum performance as an energy conversion device. In the present work, PTSC was constructed
of poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) polystyrene sulfonate (PEDOT:PSS), perovskite layers and
metallic interlayer along withsuitable front and back metal contacts. It was found that 1 nm gold
interlayer improves the efficiency of PTSC from 4.05% to 4.69%. This study will be helpful in
carefully deigning/fabricating the tandem cell structure for high efficiency solar cells.
