Abstract

The effluent discharge of dye wastewater in the natural rivulets from different industrial sources poses
severe problems as dyes give toxicity to the marine life and damages aesthetic nature of the
environment. Therefore, it becomes necessary to tackle this menace of pollution problem. Adsorption
process resulted in low efficiency for dye removal and converted pollutant from one form to the other
form, generating a new pollutant. In the present study, Acid red 27 was undergone photocatalytic
degradation. A TiO2zeolite Y photo catalyst was synthesised using wet impregnation method. This
catalyst was utilized in photocatalytic degradation of Acid red 27dye solution. The effect of
parameters such as catalyst dosage and initial dye concentration was studied. The removal of Acid red
27 dye from the aqueous solution was found to be 96% in case of photocatalytic degradation.
