Chemically Treated Lignocellulosic Precursor for the removal of cationic dye: Equilibrium and Kinetics Study

  • Sonika Singh et al.

Abstract

Low cost adsorbents are requirement of the hour and at the same time there is a need to
increase the adsorption efficiency of such adsorbents using certain physical and chemical
techniques. Present study aimed to prepare such adsorbents by the activation of inexpensive
Ziziphusmauritiana seeds by the use of sulphuric acid. The prepared adsorbent was
characterized using FTIR and SEM techniques. Batch adsorption studies were carried out to
explore its adsorption potential against methylene blue dye. The adsorbent was found
effective in the removal of cationic dye.
