Abstract

In todays world, people mindset towards spending and investing has taken a paradigm shift. Especially investing has taken new dimensions these years. The mode of investment has been undergoing an ocean of change. Mutual funds were least professionals model once. But, now mutual funds have emerged as a tool for ensuring ones financial wellbeing. As information and awareness is rising more and more, people are enjoying the benefits of investing in mutual funds. This research will introduce the customer perception with regards to mutual funds. The findings from this research are that most of the people prefer for new age investments like mutual funds and prefer to take calculative risks by investing in Mutual funds. The objective of the paper is to identify the performance of mutual funds by comparing HDFC mutual fund and SBI mutual fund with special reference to growth fund. This study employed various measures like Mean, Standard Deviation, Beta, Sharpe ratio, Treynor ratio and Jensen measure, which help investors to understand risk - return profile of selected funds.
