ROLE OF E-COMMERCE IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF RURAL INDIAN ECONOMY

Abstract

The word encircling the corporate world in the last few decades is E-Commerce. Huge numbers of businesses have started realizing the magical mantra to reach wider audience by moving online. By investing minimal amount of time and cost, E-Commerce has transformed the businesses by acting as an additional revenue scheme by bringing in increased return on investment. E-Commerce has connected human lives in such a way that, it has become an inevitable part of human life. And from the business perspective, it provides massive opportunities to both fresh and established brands irrespective of their demographic factors.       E-Commerce has emerged as a platform in which both the merchants and consumer experience a win-win situation. Consumers are provided with choices of brands, colors, taste, fashion, and comfort at competitive prices. On the other hand merchants enjoy the privilege of selling goods and earning profits in a short span of time with a minimal cost for inventory, as they have a good supply chain. Now eyes are turning towards the untapped rural market which has great potential to crack the E-Commerce world. This paper focuses on the role played by E-Commerce in the development of rural Indian economy.
